The reason to believe

I've been working on a short video to show at the fundraising event this Friday. In the process of creating it, I read some past blogs about last year's medical mission. It got me more and more excited about going on the trip in November. The mission has been this abstract thing I am going to be a part of. But when I see the images of real people and hear real stories, it has helped me really gain an understanding what this mission means.

For example, I learned about Tam. Tam is a student in 7th grade this year. She is the youngest child in the family of 6 children. Last year, Tam received a heart surgery as a part of the mission. When I read Tam's mom's thank you letter, it moved me. I couldn't believe that Tam's mom, at one point, had submitted to the fact that she couldn't afford heart surgery and there was nothing she could do to save her daughter. I can't even imagine how helpless and hopeless she must have felt. I'm so glad that she learned about HSCV and that we were able to get Tam the surgery she needed. It's stories like Tam's that make me realize, what we're doing matters. It completely and deeply matters to someone just like Tam and her family.

Hope to see everyone at the fundraising event this Friday!
